Lesson 6 of 7

6. Overcoming Manipulation and Bias

Live

Until now, you’ve focused on what happens inside your own mind, how you react, what you believe, and how to return to clarity when the Saboteurs take over.

But what about the outside world?

We are constantly surrounded by messages, stories, and pressures that try to pull us into limbic reactivity, to make us click, buy, fear, conform, or comply. These external influences shape our emotions, decisions, and even our beliefs about who we are.

This lesson helps you recognize how manipulation and bias affect your thinking, and gives you tools to protect your attention, restore your agency, and even support others in doing the same.

Why It Matters

Your mind is powerful. But it’s also influenceable.

Advertisers, politicians, narcissists, and media professionals know this. They craft emotional triggers designed to bypass your reasoning and activate fast, automatic reactions. And once you’re in a reactive state, you’re easier to persuade because you don’t have access to your executive function, critical and creative thinking, or self-empathy.

The better you understand these dynamics, the more skillfully you can step out of them.

This lesson shows you how.

? Introduction & Learning Goals

  • Practice identifying limbic triggers in marketing, media, and politics
  • Revisit strategies from previous modules for interrupting emotional responses
  • Discover how to support others in shifting from reactivity to clarity
  • Learn to adapt tools like the Self-Commander for co-regulation
