Lesson 5 of 8

5. Additional Techniques to Change Stories

Live
A person with a backpack pauses at a fork in the road, looking at a wooden signpost that reads 'The way you always go' as a sunlit path winds over the hills.
Sometimes our go-to stories and scripts don’t lead us to where we need to go.

In previous lessons, you learned how to recognize internal scripts and stories—and how to begin shifting them using awareness and reflection. But some stories run deeper. They resist change, even when you notice them. That’s when you need new tools.

This lesson expands your toolkit with practical techniques for loosening stuck patterns, softening inner resistance, and creating space for a different response.

Why It Matters

Not every story lets go easily. Some are reinforced by past experience, others by identity, fear, or repetition. Simply noticing them isn’t always enough.

That’s why it’s essential to learn multiple ways of working with internal patterns—especially the ones that keep returning. When you know how to shift your mental posture, engage with resistance, or reframe a moment, you gain freedom—not just from the story, but from the hold it has on your behavior.

These additional techniques help you keep moving when your old story wants you to stay exactly where you are.

? Introduction & Learning Goals

In this lesson, you will:

  • Learn additional techniques to loosen the grip of old stories
  • See how questions and metaphors can guide shifts without confrontation
  • Discover how to explore emotions without being hijacked by them
  • Practice “trying on” different stories to see what shifts
  • Understand how story-changing tools support clarity and momentum

These tools don’t overwrite your experience. They help you move through it—with awareness, flexibility, and self-leadership.
