Community Rules, Etiquette and Privacy Guidelines
Thank you for being part of the K12LEADERS community! In order to help foster the best experience for all members, please read and follow the following basic guidelines for patricipation.
By joining us in this community of leaders, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. We are professionals who are here to help and mentor each other as we seek better educational outcomes for our students. As such, please participate in any and all activities, discussions, groups, meeting, gatherings or conversations professionally and keep content and topics relevant to improving those outcomes and each others professional goals.
We don’t expect any issues, but to be clear, we will suspend or revoke membership if we feel it helps us serve this mission.

We disclaim all warranties with regard to information posted on this site, whether posted by us or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. In no event shall K12LEADERS or its affiliates be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site.
Do not submit any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials. Do not submit or post any information copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the poster warrants that they own the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the poster grants K12LEADERS and users of this site the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.
K12LEADERS does not warrant or guarantee the veracity or truth of any content posted by participants of this communtiy in discussion boards, activity feeds, groups, messages, or other documents.
We reserve the right to terminate access to any user who does not follow any of our guidelines or procedures.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
K12Leaders does not collect personal data to sell or share with any 3rd parties. Part of our mission is, however, to collect, organize, and present the data you choose to share through the creation of your “personal profile” with other registered K12Leaders. That is a core component of how members of this network can find and collaborate with each other. You have certain controls over what you share, and who will be able to see it, as outlined during the setup of your profile.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information, with the exception of their username, at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
When a user account is deactivated all personal data and activity are deleted.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
