About Me | Walter McKenzie is the Senior Director for Member Communities at ASCD, facilitating its many educator communities, including state, regional, provincial, and international affiliates and connected communities. He also supports ASCD governance, education policy, global engagement, and the whole child. McKenzie is a strong proponent of using social media technologies to transform organizations as they strive to meet the needs of their members in the 21st century.
Prior to coming to ASCD, McKenzie served 25 years in Massachusetts and Virginia public schools as a classroom teacher, district director, and assistant superintendent. He also served as a senior training specialist for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., and its national field offices.
McKenzie is also an internationally known presenter on multiple intelligences theory and instructional technology and has authored several books on these subjects. He holds a bachelor’s degree in early and middle childhood education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on instructional technology from George Mason University. |
